Adoption UK created this survey to find out more about parents’ and families’ understanding of adoption support, as well as their need for services and their experiences of asking for and receiving help and support. With the information gathered from this survey we hope to obtain a better picture of the provision of adoption support services across the UK, along with answering some of the questions around what it takes to parent children adopted from the care system in a safe, secure and loving environment.

Adoption UK created this survey with the aim of gathering information from adopters and prospective adopters about their experiences of being recruited and assessed. We want to use this information to get a better understanding of how local authority and voluntary adoption agencies in the UK recruit, prepare and assess adoptive parents.

Adoption UK Training Coordinator Bob Barnes wants to thank everyone who returned a questionnaire for his research project on the barriers to recruitment, training and support of adopters from the black and minority ethnic (BME) communities.
Bob said "I'm really grateful for all the responses from adopters and prospective adopters. I've had some very interesting opinions expressed and I'll be doing an analysis of them during the next few weeks."
Bob has already sent a copy of Dan Hughes new book "Attachment Focused Parenting" to the winner of the prize draw. The responses will remain confidential and the name and address of the winner of the draw will not be disclosed.
